Vincent Girard | 3 juin 2020 Soutien massif des riders au mouvement antiraciste News Rarement un message n’a été autant relayé par les sportifs que celui scandé par le mouvement antiraciste suite à la mort de George Floyd aux Etats-Unis. Ce mardi, des millions de publications de carrés noirs sont apparues sur Twitter et Instagram notamment, accolées d’une simple mention #BlackOutTuesday. Depuis le 2 juin, 28,4 millions de posts mentionnant ce hashtag ont été enregistrés sur Instagram. L’objectif était de soutenir le mouvement antiraciste relancé depuis les Etats-Unis après la mort de George Floyd, afro-américain de 46 ans, tué lors d’une interpellation par un policier à Minneapolis. #BlackOutTuesday (que l’on pourrait traduire par « mardi débranché » a été lancé par deux femmes noires Brianna Agyemang et Jamilla Thomas, directrice marketing chez Atlantic Records, afin de prendre le temps de réfléchir au mouvement en cours. De nombreux artistes ont relayé le message. Le monde du sport a également suivi et les riders et sportifs outdoor n’ont pas fait exception. John John Florence, Loïc Bruni, Aurélien Giraud, Kelly Slater, Shaun White, Justine Dupont, Tanner Hall, Kilian Jornet, Matthias Dandois, Gabriel Medina, Richard Permin, Ryan Sheckler ou encore Fabio Wibmer ont tous publié un message avec le hashtag #BlackOutTuesday ou #BlackLivesMatter. As white man born in a rich country I have never felt unsafe facing other individuals because the color of my skin, gender or sexual orientation. And that’s a privilege I got not from efforts or education, nor by choice, but just how I was born.
